The Disease Called Religious Fanaticism

Thursday, February 5th - Washington D.C., retired NASCAR driver and commentator, Darrell Waltrip was given the honor of addressing a broad consortium of religious leaders/personalities at the National Prayer Breakfast as the keynote speaker.

With the president of the United States present, along with the Dalai Lama, and other non-Christians in attendance, this is what he had to say, reported by Nedra Pickler for APNews MyWay:

"Waltrip told how he had accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior after a 1993 crash left him wondering what would happen if he died. ""If you've never gotten on your knees and asked him to forgive you of your sins, you're just a pretty good guy or a pretty good gal? You're going to go to hell,"" Waltrip said.

The day before, ISIS gave the world a glimpse of exactly what Hell looks like and just in case you didn't know this, Hell is not a place you go to when you die. On the contrary, Hell is actually here on earth, when we allow the existence of religious fanatics in our midst, like ISIS and the Darrell Waltrip's of the world.

Oh yes, Darrell Waltrip in my opinion, suffers from the same disease, as the individuals who set-a-man-on-fire in the name of Allah. Darrell's fire came from his heart and out through his mouth when he essentially told the Dalai Lama and every non-Christian in the room, they were going to Hell.

And worse, SOME OF YOU agree with him, "Well, that's what the Bible says," and you will defend Darrell's so-called speaking the truth, won't you?

This my friends is the sad reality – the difference between Human beings and those whom I believe, have a disease that has rendered them mentally ill, turning them into religious fanatics whose only aim is to reek havoc and mayhem (spiritually and physically) upon the people of earth.

They do it by spewing vile lies and half-truths found in books they believe are written by gods no one has ever seen. These people have no trouble finding succor for their hatred of sinners, juxtaposed to the belief their god sanctions the rape of children and the subjugation of women. Their actions reveal a lack of respect for the gift of life, in any form other than their own perverted view of Humanity, as being sinful and therefore worthy of reproach or death.

In other words; all that is natural for human beings, is an abomination to their gods. How is it possible that we allow such madness? That we literally give a forum to individuals who are opposed to life in all it's forms upon the earth, and actually believe that death and resurrection into a better world, is the primary goal of the Human experience?

Really? When are we going to f'ing grow up and put an end to this perversion? We sit back and let assholes cut off people's heads, set people on fire, rape our children, treat women as if they are things.

Is it really necessary for me to list all the atrocities religious fanatics have unleashed upon this world?

The sting of Muadh al-Kasasbeh's death will not soon fade from the hearts and minds of those who loved him, and those dared to witness the actions of the only real devils that exist in this world – these so-called men of God. Muadh's suffering is over, but an etheric dagger of words through the heart is quite another thing.

"But how can you possibly compare Darrell's words to setting a man on fire?"

Words from the heart ignite fires of indignation that can burn for quite some time and have the opposite intended effect. A thinking person couldn't sit in that room and not react – not want to just get up and leave, or ignore the blood rushing to the head out of anger, being told you're going to eternal Hell, even if you know it's complete nonsense.

We're talking about a room filled with individuals from all walks of life, with a depth of experiences and accomplishments that put 'em on the radar to be invited to this event in the first place. Then to inflict upon them a fanatic, mentally disturbed keynote speaker, who is allowed to insult not just the individual beliefs and intelligence of those gathered, but the actual core quantum presence within each of us that drives our individualized quests for the truth. This to me is just as shocking, as murdering a man in cold blood, because the thinking comes from the same place that gives other men permission to murder a man in cold blood!

So when you look at it clearly, once individuals within a belief system go rouge, these people have absolutely nothing to do with a benevolent god, heaven, peace, love, life, or truth, but rather, they exist to create HELL ON EARTH for others. Period the end!

Why can't we just love who we are – heartfelt Human beings, made from earth and the stars who make mistakes, accept responsibility for ourselves, the planet, all life upon and within her? Why can't we be protective of each other, nurturing of the Human race in sharing peace, love, and knowledge freely, while exploring the depths of Human emotions, accomplishing high-minded, seemingly impossible endeavors that propels Human kind forward into a magnificent future?

I get it – people make money from all this death, greed, and destruction of ourselves, and this world we live upon? What I don’t get is why we allow it?

Call me a fool! A dreamer. I don't care. I would rather spend the rest of my existence living amidst so-called sinners, then five minutes praying to any god the Darrell Waltrip's of the world, or the men who murdered, Muadh al-Kasasbeh believe in.
