A Letter to Zianna

“I feel like, that we are treated differently than other people… and I don’t like how we’re treated just because of our color…” Zianna Oliphant

I’m sure we’ve all seen the video of little Zianna Oliphant’s heart-felt testimony at a Charlotte City Council meeting calling for Mayor Jennifer Roberts and Charlotte Mecklenburg police Chief Kerr Putney, to resign in the wake of last week's officer-involved shooting of Keith Scott.
Well, this letter is dedicated to little Zianna, because for the first time in your young life you are going to hear the truth about why you are treated differently because of the color of your skin, and it’s not what you have been trained to believe.
Long before you were born in the 1960s, people of color actually demanded to be treated differently than every other citizen of these United States, when they proclaimed themselves to be a Black People with a separate Black culture, identity, and history. This is a fact, and that was the first fatal mistake. A mistake, because you see Zianna; language and culture are inseparable, just as your fingers are to your hand.
If we consider this analogy; each finger is a little different than the other isn’t it? And then there’s the thumb, which is shaped completely different than each of our four fingers, yet they function as a complete unit called a hand. If, through some unfortunate disaster, one of our fingers becomes detached from the hand, what happens? The finger withers away through decay and the hand continues to function, maybe not as efficiently as before, but over time we learn to compensate for the loss and keep moving forward.

You see, there was a time in America when people of color — Negroes were respected as a race of extremely brave, stalwart, family oriented, education first pillars of society throughout the world. Yes, there was racism. Yes, people hated us because of the color of our skin, our hair, noses, etc., but the struggle of our people in the 1950s and 1960s attracted the attention and support of the entire world acting as a complete unit in pursuit of equality. The result of so many years of struggle culminated in what I believe was the disastrous Civil Rights Act of 1964, instead of a class-action lawsuit against the Southern states that had defied the Fourteenth Amendment of our Constitution by enacting the Jim Crow Laws.
This incredible lost opportunity to actually compensate Negroes for 100-years of “abridging the privileges and immunities” as citizens the United States led to what? Complete frustration on the part of Negroes, shortly after the signing of the very Civil Rights Act, because folks realized they had been played. Think about it Zianna, for a hundred of years, various States “deprived a people of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law” and were denied “jurisdiction and equal protection of the laws.”
Yet, our so-called leaders decided a treaty with the one country on Earth that has proven over and over again that treaties are as worthless as the paper they are written on, was better than suing them, and putting money into every Negro’s pocket. The result is we wound up starting from below the bottom rung with no money, having to work twice as hard as our White, Irish, Jewish, Italian, etc., counterparts to achieve even minimal success.
We understood this and we went to work in spite of tremendous obstacles that were put in our way. We demanded our children attend college. We demanded our children ignore the insults and keep their focus on their goals. We demanded our children work their asses off to be better, not equal to our counterparts in society. Perhaps you may think it unfair that we had to over-achieve, but it was the only way. Millions of people of color succeeded in this hostile environment. Those who did not, found themselves living on modern-day plantations dependent on government checks to survive.
So it was from the depths of frustration and anger that the poorest people of color started a movement to collectively become a Black people, believing a separate culture would be the solution to achieving prosperity. Yet, all it has led to is disaster – a withering away of a once family-oriented, education first stalwart tenacity, which evolved into an explosion of unwed teenage mothers using birth as a means to receive bigger checks from the government, and in many cases the complete destruction of Blacks communities from one end of this country to another.
It led to gangster rap – think about it Zianna, a culture of teenagers who identify with murder, selling drugs, bitches, hoes, dogs, niggas, shorties, and a new language that personified a capitulation to failure and the embracement of absolute ignorance called Ebonics. Such a culture, bent on using criminal means to survive, is naturally going to butt heads with the law-and-order community, which then led to the establishment of privatized prison systems designed to earn profits from all the little gangsta wanna-bees. Why? Because Black Culture, by definition, is the sympathetic embracement of white racist ideology designed to destroy a people from within.
Look up the word Black in a dictionary and then try to justify calling yourself such a thing. Of course, the first argument you’ll hear from your peers and old-headed Negroes is; ‘that’s the White man’s definition and not how we define ourselves as a Black people,’ and my response is; what language are you speaking – the White man’s language! Every word you use to describe yourself comes from a culture that believed they were the most superior race on the face of this Earth, and Blacks, the most inferior. Language and culture are inseparable. To the Anglo-Saxons, a Black was nothing more than a slave from the continent of Africa, as well as every other definition you will see in a Webster’s dictionary.
The shameful, criminal behavior in Ferguson, Baltimore, Chicago, and your own city of Charlotte clearly proves the manifestation of the meaning of the White man’s definition of the word Black, has been fully embraced by a people who would call themselves niggas.
So to conclude; why are you treated different than everyone else? Because Black people chose to separate themselves from the rest of America, while creating a false culture using the language of their oppressors, demanding to be treated differently than everyone else through their actions and ideology of Blackness. In other words; they decided it would be better the hand representing our one, collective -- America culture -- operate with a finger missing. Period the end!

Proof, It Had Nothing To Do With The Police

Or

Freddy Grey

Now that the Freddy Grey protests have died down and a semblance of order has been restored in Baltimore City... uh, NOT!

Freddy Grey was a mask, an illusion of public outrage over the death of a Black man, at the hands of people we’re supposed to believe are vicious, murderous policemen, intent upon persecuting an entire race of law-abiding citizens. For god’s sake, the Freddy Grey disaster was caught on camera for the whole world to see! Didn’t these policemen know; “Black Lives Matter” damn-it?

Yeah, to everyone but Black people, it seems.

As it turns out, the actual vicious, murderous thugs responsible for the deaths of more Black people than the police, the Ku Klux Klan, war, famine, or natural disasters are Blacks. It’s amazing we can actually find human beings brave enough to put on a police uniform and volunteer to risk their lives, stepping into some of the most dangerous neighborhoods on planet earth. We’re talking about a citizenry armed to the nines, against men who are ill trained to deal with an urban combat environment, in which children will murder each other for a diss, or a dime bag of weed.
Since the post, Freddy Grey shhhh… “Police, slowdown” that we’re told is not happening, but everyone knows is going down as we speak; the lax police presence has given Black people a chance to get back to their favorite pastime — exterminating each other. The irony of the current rise in the murder rate and the Freddy Grey protests — it’s directly related the absence of police officers saving Black people from murdering each other.
They never get credit for all the lives they save. Small acts of heroism hardly ever make the Top 10 lists on Youtube. But you can’t blame police officers for backing off. First they’re asked to put their lives on the line, and now people expect them to put their jobs on the line as well? They weren’t hired to be Officer Friendlies — they are dispatched to areas where crime is taking place. For whatever reason one wants to attribute, poor Black neighborhoods are where most of the crime is taking place. I have my own thoughts, which I have written about an ad-nauseam, but the mainstream isn’t interested in hearing from me.
The ideology of Blackness has brought us to this juncture in time where old-headed Negroes keep saying, “The Freddy Grey riots remind me of the Dr. King riots.” And I say, therein lies the true source of all the maladies affecting a once eloquent people. 1968 was the year a people of colored officially, collectively, became a Black people, and it’s been down hill ever since.
No, the problem isn’t with the police, it is with the failed, racist ideology called Blackness, that has fostered an angry, violent, illiterate underclass, and stunted the growth of a people for the last fifty years.

Blackness Is Antithetical To Life

I really hate to be the one constantly harping on this, but understand that we, a people of color, have only called ourselves Black for the last 50 years. Think about it — humans have been on planet earth — the universe, for ga-billions of years and only now, in the last 50-years of HUman existence a people have identified themselves as Black and actually moved backwards in time.
You’ll want to hate me, for speaking the obvious without holding back, but if you just take a few minutes to read this essay, The Disease Called Blackness you too may come to realize that we must fix one of the most devastating decisions ever — the moment one of the greatest people on earth, chose to become the personification of defeat.
Blackness is NOT a fact, it is a racist, separatist, IDEOLOGY
We are so much more than this. Our identities should speak to the future and be symbiotic with who and what we are individually, as well as the collective family of Humanity we are a part of — not some ideology created from the depths of despair and frustration fifty years ago.
Believe me, I have absolutely nothing to gain for taking the opposite stand against an ideology that most so-called Black people merely accept. I could sell a hell of a lot more books being nice and going along with the crowd, instead of pissing people off. But someone has to open the door.
Fifty years is long enough to suffer for the mistakes of the past, isn't it? Life is not about suffering, no matter what anyone tells you. We choose to suffer when we believe in things that we don't understand, which manifest energies into the very subatomic particles of our beings that are antithetical to life.

The Last Black History Month -- Ever!

 th, with

Could there be a worse time in history, for a Black History Month? Let's see, if we open up the big book -- the one into which we log the newest additions to this illustrious month, I guess we'll have to pencil in Ferguson, because Ferguson..................... is the legacy of the ideology of Blackness in America.

In years to come, Black people will speak of it in much the same way as they remember the March on Washington. Of course, Michael Brown will replace, Dr. King as the champion of Blacks in America for what he accomplished, not as a wanna be thug who was shot for attacking a police officer and resisting arrest, but as a hero of justice and freedom in America -- the boy who started a movement!

The #HandsUpDon'tShoot movement? No. The #BlackLivesMatter movement?" No. He started, Another Dead Nigga who knew how to put merchandize into other Nigga's pockets Movement. People will say; "He laid down his life and sacrificed himself for others, so I could  steal this new TV - this liquor - this iPhone, these diapers for my children!"

Perhaps White America will even allow themselves to be bullied into creating, Michael Brown Day as a paid holiday.

For the record, my name is Herman Williams III. I am a sculptor of fine cast bronze and sculptures made from 4gauge copper wire.

I have also produced television at the highest levels for nationally syndicated efforts like the Montel Williams Show, and others.

I recently published my first fiction novel, Memoirs of An Extraterrestrial the Negro Conundrum, under the pen name H.P. Stanly, with the sequel A Hero In Hell fast on it’s heels. I’ve also written a musical, three plays, seven screenplays, and write for a blog, TheNegro Conundrum.

I would love to be invited to speak on this subject, but recognize that I am probably the least likely of individuals to be quoted on say, Dr. King's birthday or during Black History month, even though I believe my message is vital to the spirit and quite possibly the survival... of so-called Black people, as well as the state of race relations in this country going forward.

My message isn't just for Black people, it's for anyone trying to understand how we start planning for a future of uh... continued living together on the planet. Where else are we going to go to get away from each other?

The real problem in America, sorry to say, is powerful Black Baby-boomers like, Oprah and the so-called Black intelligentsia who continue to foist an ideology of blame and constantly looking backwards upon society and on our millennials. And now they're giving out free tickets to Selma... good lord!

Speaking of Oprah, I find it interesting that from 1986 when the Oprah Winfrey Show began, until around 1995 the last thing the show, or Oprah promoted was her Blackness. In fact, they did everything they could to build her reputation as 'Every woman's girlfriend," and avoid the discussion of race completely.

How did they accomplish this? Well, there's a little secret in the television business called, audience coordinators who are vital to the success of a show, in terms of branding and building the type of audience mandated by the producers of the show. Audience coordinators are responsible for every face the home viewer sees, sitting in the range of camera movements throughout the entire set. So if you want to create the illusion that a Black host is loved and adored by a more lucrative white audience, as far as advertisers are concerned, you make sure the home viewer sees a majority of white people sitting in the audience from the get-go.

Here's the proof: Clip from Oprah's first show

"How can audience coordinators know for sure the race of people calling in for tickets?"

Uh... well, that get's into another little secret about the talk show business, and audience coordinators -- they are skilled at pegging the race of a caller from their voices alone within 20-30 seconds.

Producers didn't have to be concerned with the numbers of Black people who would watch, because their participation was a given. Whites were the capital that made the Oprah Winfrey Show successful, not Black people. The point is, most people in America didn't either perceive, or believe it was important that Oprah was a Black woman hosting a talk show, but just a woman who everyone could relate to hosting a show.

So when you think about all the success she gained by minimizing her Blackness and embracing inclusiveness, then it makes you wonder how in the world she could possibly believe that promoting Blackness is good for anyone else.

It wasn't until she was incredibly successful that it didn't matter, and she could become Black again -- publicly, promoting an ideology that has been choking the very lifeblood of a people to death for the last fifty years.

Again: Blackness is not a fact, it is an ideology.

I challenge anyone to name a single race of human beings who ever existed on the face of this earth, or any planet in the known universe for that matter, whose identity was tied to being a Black people or Blackness!

Psst... Africans do not call themselves Black people -- their identities are tied to the particular countries they live in.

It is my contention the ideology of Blackness has literally obliterated the foundation upon which a once family oriented, education first, forthright people stood as shinning examples of courage and catalysts for change. And it only took 50 years of: "We are going to build a movement in this country based on the color of our skins that is going to free us from our oppressors, and we have to do that ourselves," Stokely Carmichael 1966 to bring it all down.

Folks, Stokely Carrmichael was a devout racist, and yes, in spite of the Black intelligentsia's denials, Black people can be just as racist as any other American. Stokely Carmichael helped build the Black Panthers/ Black Power Movement, in unison with the Nation of Islam, and the Black Nationalist Movement -- all racist/separatist organizations.

Since then, no one can say Blacks have had the same commitment to family, education, and excellence in everything we do today when 50 - 70% of inner city black youths are illiterate.

So if you're looking for someone with a different approach to so-called Black/American history my approach is forthright and pointed, as are my opinions, which leave no room for misinterpretation. I'm not the touchy/feely kind that holds your hand and walks you through the maze. I prefer to drop all pretenses and let it fly, because we hardly have the time for anything else. There are literally a couple of generations on the line right now -- their very survival at stake and they need to start uncoupling from the racist agenda of Blackness immediately, if there's any chance of them having a future.

I suggest perhaps starting with one of my first essays on the topic such as Black Culture, an Ideology Built on Racism posted on my blog. Other topics include; the Disease Called Blackness, and Dr. King’s Failure & Blacks Getting Played… Again!

The bottom line; I am not committed the promotion of Black History Month, but rather, in deconstructing what I believe is a racist ideology called Blackness that has been holding our youth back and led to this current state of racial unrest across this country. And I lay the blame at the feet of individuals like Oprah, Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, and all the Baby-boomers who lived by, taught their youth and demanded the world see them not by the content of their character, but first as a Black people separate from everyone else, and that is pure racism by definition!

Black History is simply, American history. Language and culture are inseparable –- we are one people based on the language we share and our collective culture, which is imbedded into the very words we use to describe ourselves. Speaking of language and a racist separatist ideology, ebonics wasn't created by America/whites, quite the contrary, uneducated Blacks and the Music Industrial Mind Control Complex did that.

The worst possible solution, or focus is to continue down the path of blaming society, white people or anything other than making a collective effort to go inside and save the teens who are illiterate, and who also believe they are incapable of learning.

Movies in the genre' of Selma, et al showing white people shooting, beating, hating, enslaving, Black people are the absolute worst thing to introduce at this moment in history to black teens after a SUMMER of racial tensions... good lord... really?

Besides, Americans do not care anymore -- they've moved on. The images from Ferguson ended America's caring. Now it's completely up to so-called Black people to solve their own problems and boy, the history just isn't there.

The current tact by organizations under the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter and their disruptions do nothing more than create a greater wedge. There must be a greater reliance on letting the court system take care of attacks upon the individual Constitutional Rights of citizens, while at the same time engaging in the difficult work changing the underlying psychology/ideology behind much of the negative social behavior we see manifesting in Black communities across this country.

If we don’t address it right now, these kids will become America’s problem, on so many different levels as I pointed out in an essay titled; Breeding a Nation of Murderers?

Perhaps your organization will see the benefits of becoming a catalyst to kick-start a much needed conversation within a community that badly needs it. I can take the heat, just looking for someone to see value in what I have to offer as a catalyst for change.

Dreaming that one day, people of color will demand to be treated based upon the content of our characters, our actions, and our willingness to put the past aside -- race in the background and work with every other American/HU-man being rebuilding our lives -- this world!

It is time to refute the ideology of Blackness/Black Culture and embrace what is right below our feet -- this land we helped build called America.

Sincerely,

Herman Williams III
